The Heart of Fundraising – The Ortus Group Announce Charity Partnership 2016 Donation
The Ortus Group and Ortus Property Services were delighted to present a cheque for £8,256.94 to Children’s Heartbeat Trust from fundraising events throughout 2016.
The Ortus Group have been running charity events for over 10 years but this was the first year they announced an Annual Charity Partner of the Year. The announcement allowed the group to hold several events, fundraising for the charity and also promote their work to the wider community. Events held by The Ortus Group and Ortus Property Services to support the charity included the Annual Charity Golf Tournament supported by local businesses and the community Twin Spires Family Fun Day during the annual Feile An Phobail event.
Seamus O’Prey, CEO Ortus, commented:
“As a social enterprise, Ortus are focussed on regeneration of the local area, supporting those within our community and working with local charities to both drive awareness and support activities. Therefore, having an Annual Charity Partner and giving back is central to our social ethos.
This year we were delighted to build a close partnership with Children’s Heartbeat Trust and support the work they do with so many families throughout Northern Ireland. We the amount raised at this year’s events is testimony to the strong community spirit and hard word across our staff, tenants and clients. We wish to thank all those involved throughout the year and in particular the businesses who contributed to our Golf Event in 2016.”
Children’s Heartbeat Trust is a local charity who delivers practical and emotional support to children and young people born with congenital heart disease and their families in Northern Ireland.
Lynn Cowan, Fundraiser for Children’s Heartbeat Trust added:
“We are extremely grateful to Ortus for choosing us as their Charity of the Year in 2016. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect in Northern Ireland with on average, 200 children born every year with the disease. We are overwhelmed by the fantastic funds raised by The Ortus Group which will make a huge impact into the support we can provide. The money raised will specifically go towards the purchase of a 3rd respite caravan for families living with heart disease, so that they can spend quality time together as a family and away from the hospital environment. On behalf of our heart families across NI, I would like to thank everyone who raised and donated money throughout the year to our work.’’
The annual charity partnership runs in tandem with a wide range of community activities The Ortus Group partakes in. Aside from annual charity events they also provide free business support to local SMEs, educational bursaries and direct donations. In 2016, some of the community groups Ortus supported through a range of bursaries included Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, SOS Bus NI, Turner Survivors, Shankhill Juniors and Brassneck Theatre Company.
